Dear Rangers, friends, fans and nutlovers,
I am in awe of you all. When I told a friend of mine, a veteran actor, a few weeks ago that I thought it was remotely possible that the fans of Jericho might persuade CBS to bring the show back he told me I was crazy. And he seemed a little sad for me. That I was " deluded. This does not happen. Cagney and Lacey? Whatever. Grow up. Move on."
But I couldn't. I admit it. I watched you all every day. You were, as my dear colleague wrote earlier, classy. You were relentless. Tireless. And right. You deserved to have your story back. And now you have it!
You have spoken eloquently to the network. You reminded them about the lack of promotion, the lack of re-runs, the Nielsen's, the timeslot. The fact that they were not counting you.
They heard you and they have responded. You forced a publicly held multi-national corporation to stop. They stopped and they re-considered whether or not they made the right move.
Now, whether or not they made the right business move to bring us back remains to be seen. We will have to deliver the viewers. But this doesn't worry me. It doesn't worry me because I know and you know that the viewers were there all along. They just weren't being accounted for properly. And the publicity you all brought the show will bring even more people to the JERICHO.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I can not thank you enough. You gave me back the best job I ever had. But more importantly, you have encouraged me to believe for the first time that the public can successfully stand up to a network. Because you so clearly and so politely spoke your desire to this huge company, they were able to hear you and see the wisdom of admitting they were wrong and changing their decision. To their credit, they were not ruled by the need to save face. As I have said before, these are smart, successful people who get it right most of the time. This time they needed your help to see their mistake. God love ya.
You have made history. We will never forget this. We are so grateful to you.
Thank you,
